Kotoko’s Jackson fractures leg in kickabout

Asante Kotoko’s Jackson Owusu is set for a lengthy stay on the sidelines after injuring himself in a Sunday morning kickabout.

The midfielder, during an early morning game with friends at his neighborhood, Maakro in Kumasi, suffered a grave injury to his left leg and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Examinations by doctors have confirmed, the former Berekum Chelsea player suffered a complete fracture of the tibia and will need surgery on Monday.

“That’s the report the doctors are giving to us after examinations at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. He’s expected to undergo a surgery on Monday,” General Manager Opoku Nti told the club’s website.

Footy-Ghana understands the management of Asante Kotoko are livid at the incident, having recently barred all contracted players from featuring in games not sanctioned by the club.

Jackson, who is in his second season was given a Gh¢100 fine by the club a few months ago for engaging in a similar act.

The injury rules Jackson Owusu out of reckoning for the upcoming 2015/16 Ghana Premier League which begins February 20.
