I would have fired Avram Grant if… – Nyaho-Tamakloe

Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has taken a swipe at the country’s football governing body for keeping up with Black Stars Coach Avram Grant.

According to him, Grant deserves a sack for his continous absence from the country, explaining such a situation couldn’t have happened under his watch.

Coach Avram Grant until recently has been outside the country with the excuse of monitoring Ghanaian players outside the country and has been chastised by the media and other sports fans.

Some letters that was recently revealed indicated the GFA was not enthused with the former Chelsea boss’ long stay away from Ghana and asked the Israeli to be in the country to monitor the Ghana Premier League.

According to the Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Grant deserves no special treatment.

“I don’t think Grant is a special person when it comes to training; what he’s doing now can be done by anyone. You go out and bring the boys from their various teams, you form a team and go into a match”.

“We want trainers who will live here and train us when we are so deficient in certain areas. We don’t have strikers, we don’t have good defenders, but that’s not what Grant is doing and I will have fired him a long time ago”.

“I’m for a coach who would like to stay in this country and work and all the two Serbian Coaches I brought here were all able to qualify us to the World Cup. These are people who are ready to work but Grant is not prepared to work.”

He made these comments in an interview with Kafui Dey on GHOne TV and questioned why the GFA is keeping the Israeli trainer:

“The FA is afraid of him and I don’t know why and I don’t know what the fear is all about because this is a man you can see clearly he has no interest in the country he is in, his demeanour alone should tell you, why maintain him?”

Coach Avram Grant will be leading the Black Stars in their AFCON qualifying clashes against Mozambique on Thursday and Sunday in Accra and Maputo respectively.
