GPL Wrap: Dauda back heel sends Hearts top of the league

Accra Hearts of Oak returned to the summit of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League after travelling to beat Sekondi Hasaacas 1-0 on match day 19.

Striker Cosmos Dauda fired the only goal of the game in the 59th minute with an audacious back heel to hand new coach Sergio Traguil his first away win. The Phobians now lead the log with 34 points.

SC produced a dominant display to masterfully defeat Wa All Stars 2-1. The defeat for All Stars effectively displaces them from the league top. Kennedy Boateng opened the scoring at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena with an acrobatic effort as early as the 7th minute before Togolese import Komlan Agbegniadan doubled the advantage 15 minutes later. All Stars however grabbed a consolation in the second half through Matthew Andoh.

All Stars now drop to second spot, same points, 32 as Asante Kotoko were frustrated to a goalless game by Bechem United at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday. The porcupines however take the third position due to an inferior goal difference.

Striker Nathaniel Asamoah opened his goal account since joining Aduana Stars in his second appearance with a 40th minute strike against New Edubiase United. The visitors however pegged back four minutes into second half through the experienced James Boadu. The game ended 1-1 at the Nana Agyeman Badu Park.

At the Golden City Park, Stephen Owusu’s first half strike handed Berekum Chelsea all three points against Ebusua Dwarfs while Dreams FC travelled to shock Liberty Professionals 1-0 at Dansoman. Eric Gawu fed onto a pass from Emmanuel Sarpong before rounding off the Liberty goalkeeper to slot home the only goal of the game.

AshGold continued their resurgence in the second round of the GPL with a 1-0 victory over Inter Allies at the Len Clay Stadium. Playmaker Emmanuel Osei Baffour scored the only goal of the encounter 10 minutes from time.
