Wa All Stars emerged biggest winners in the opening day fixtures of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League as they comfortably displaced visiting Sekondi Hasaacas 3-0 in Wa.
Maxwell Baako scored the first and third goals for the Wa side while Richard Arthur scored in between, a result which places the side at the summit of the league table.
Hearts of Oak secured a confidence boosting win over bogey side New Edubaise courtesy a late strike from experienced forward Samuel Yeboah. The new signing from Heart of Lions grabbed his debut goal in the 78th minute after coming on as a second half substitute for Selasi Adjei. The match was the first league game for Japanese-American coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi who took charge of the side in November last year.

In a clash of the new boys at a parked Robert Mensah Stadium, Dreams FC came out victors with a 1-0 score-line over their hosts Ebusua Dwarfs on Sunday. Johnson Oppong Mensah went into the history books as the first player to score for Dreams in the Ghanaian top flight.
Liberty Professionals failed to show their prowess as they succumbed to a 0-2 away defeat at the hands of Bechem United. Francis Afriyie and Yaw Arnol scored in each half to hand Bechem a comfortable win at the Nana Gyeabour Park.
In Sunday’s late kick-off encounter, Inter Allies posted two goals without reply past Aduana Stars at the Tema Stadium. The scorers on the day, Ropapa Mensah and new signing Isaac Twum were on assist duties for each other. In the 19th minute, the latter saw his cross headed in by Mensah who also returned the assist gesture with a sweet back heel pass for Twum to open his goal account for his new club in the 39th minute. The Eleven Is To One side dominated play for most parts of the game with the star-studded Aduana side coming into the game in the final 15 minutes of the encounter. Their relentless efforts however failed to produce a goal.
Fifteen (15) goals were scored in the 8 games played on match-day one while Wa All Stars’ Maxwell Baako jumped into the lead on the scorers’ chart with his brace against Hasaacas.
