GPL Wrap: All Stars beaten, Aduana shock Liberty, Dreams win

Wa All Stars suffered their second loss in the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League after succumbing to a 0-1 defeat to Medeama SC on match day 10.

Striker Benjamin Bature’s strike 14 minutes into the second half was enough to hand the Mauve and Yellow all the three points at stake at the T&A Park on Sunday.

New Edubiase, after their shock win against Asante Kotoko on match day 9, continued their resurgence with a 2-1 home win over Berekum Chelsea at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi. Rookie striker Prince Owusu Agyemang scored his debut goal in the top flight but Chelsea pegged back through Seth Appiah. The Bekwai boys however snatched victory courtesy a Wahab Annan goal. The win lifts Edubiase from the bottom three to 11th position.

Goals from Godfred Asante and Eric Gawu ensured Dreams FC hand crisis ridden Sekondi Hasaacas a 2-1 defeat at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu. Eric Bekoe scored the consolation for the ‘Doo’ boys. The game saw Hasaacas conceding their 20th goal in 10 games this season.

Aduana Stars left it late to beat Liberty Professionals 3-2 in a thrilling encounter at Dansoman. Latif Blessing drew first blood for Liberty with his 8th of the campaign but youngster Zakaria Mumuni pegged back with his debut goal for the Fire club in the 12th minute. Three more goals ensued in the second with Edward Ebo Mends restoring the lead for the hosts. Yahaya Mohammed however cancelled the lead again with his 7th goal this season. Aduana grew in confidence after the Yahaya leveller and went ahead just on added time as substitute Derrick Sasraku rose high to head home the third goal for the Dormaa lads.

At the Robert Mensah Stadium, champions AshantiGold managed to hold hosts Ebusua Dwarfs to a 1-1 stalemate.  Fuseini Nuhu shot the Miners into the lead but Michael Insaidoo who replaced Romeo Agban in the second half found the equalizer for tue coach J.E Sarpong side.

Dwarfs lie bottom of the table with 9 points just as Inter Allies who found luck in an Isaac Baah own-goal to draw 1-1 with Techiman City at the Tema Stadium. Ebenezer Agyapong had headed the visitors into the lead.

Bechem United beat 10-man WAFA 2-0 at home to climb to 10th position on the log. Aminu Mohammed scored first via a penalty which saw WAFA’s Kennedy Boateng sent off before setting up Francis Afriyie to score the second goal.
