GPL PREVIEW: ‘Techiman is our fortress; Hearts our next prey’

Techiman City forward Ibrahim Issaka has stated that his side is focused on stretching further their home invincibility record when they host big boys Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

The Phobians are guests to the first time campaigners in a match day 7 fixture of the ongoing 2015/16 Ghana Premier League at ‘The Den’ – the Nana Ameyaw Park.

City, coached by Yusif Abubakar, are on an impressive run in six games so far having copped 10 points – all available points in three home games as well as a point from last week’s 22-2 stalemate away to New Edubiase United.

Second-placed Hearts of Oak, for the first time this season, lost a game in the previous match day – a 1-3 home defeat to current league leaders Wa All Stars and have vowed to quickly bounce back to winning ways against the Techiman side.

“We [Techiman City] have prepared well enough and ready for the game. No side sets out with the purpose of going to lose a contest so fair play to the opposition if they say they are coming to get three points,” the experienced Issaka, a former league winner with Berekum Chelsea said in reaction to the plans of the Phobians.

Issaka who failed to land a deal after training and featuring in the GHALCA G-Six tournament with Hearts however sent out a caution:

“They [Hearts] should be mindful that this is our own backyard and a fortress as such. The team has won all home games so far and that is what we intend doing again this Sunday and for the rest of all home games. We know in football anything can happen but our eyes is fixed on all points.

Meanwhile, President of Techiman City, Chalres Kojo Ntim has announced a GHc 10,000 bonus package from club sponsor Sasso for a win ober Hearts.

The Techiman City-Hearts game is one of match day 7 fixturesthat will be honoured on Sunday. Kickoff is at 15:00GMT.
