SUPER SPENDING: Aduana Stars averaged GH¢1m on recruitment – CEO

Chief Executive Officer of Aduana Stars, Albert Commey has rubbished reports his outfit spent about GH¢ 600,000 on new players.

According to Commey, the figure is nowhere near the amount the “Ogya” boys splashed on new acquisitions.

Aduana signed ten new players; most of them very high profile signings, ahead of what many predict will be a very good season for the Dormaa-based side.

Despite already boasting very experienced campaigners like Richard Arhin, Daniel Darkwah and Captain Emmanuel Akuoku, Aduana have added former Kotoko attackers Richard Mpong and Yahaya Mohammed, alongside one of last season’s impressive performers Noah Martey from Bechem to their outfit. Aduana’s new signings also include former Kotoko goalkeeper Joseph Addo, impressive defender Yakubu Mohammed, Sampson Boampong Wirekoh and enterprising young former WAFA boy Zakaria Mumuni.

And Commey has now revealed he spent an average of GH¢ 100,000 on each of those new signings player.

“I saw some laughable figures being thrown around in the media and that’s inaccurate. Each player we bought averages over one billion old Ghana cedis (GH¢ 100,000),” Commey told Footy-Ghana’s Fentuo Tahiru.

“If we don’t have the figures, don’t let us put it out there,” he admonished the media.

Commey is also unhappy that he was never contacted before the figures were released.

“Nobody asked me anything without putting the figures out there. We are a serious club. With the quality of players we signed, we did our background checks. So how can anyone think that all of them cost just GH¢ 600,000?” the Ghana FA Media Committee Chairman added.

Aduana will begin their quest to regain the title they won in 2010 with a difficult away trip to the Tema Park to take on Inter Allies before welcoming Wa All Stars to the Agyemang Badu Park in week 2.

Aduana narrowly missed out on winning the league title last season.
