Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna could sign Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari in a free agent deal in the coming days.
The 33-year-old has been handed an opportunity to prove his fitness before landing a contract, the La Liga side announced Thursday.
Muntari, who has been a free agent since leaving Italian side Pescara last summer, was recommended by new coach Clarence Seedorf who he worked under during his days at AC Milan.
Muntari is expected to land tonight at 23:30 at the Alvedro Airport. He will then join the team in training at the Sports City of Abegondo on Friday.
After starting his career at Liberty Professionals, Muntari spent a good part of his career in the Serie A. He defended the Udinese shirt for 6 years, 3 for Inter, 3 for Milan and before finishing off at Pescara for one season.
Muntari also spent two seasons in England with Portsmouth and Sunderland and a year’s spell at Ittihad FC of Saudi Arabia.
Deportivo La Coruna are threatened by relegation from the Spanish top division. They currently lie 18th on the La Liga log.
