Saka joins GPL new boys Karela Utd

Newly-promoted Ghana Premier League side Karela United have completed the signing of former Aduana Stars captain Godfred Saka.

The experienced right-back joins on a one-year deal.

Saka’s addition by Karela is expected to provide experience and leadership to the side who will be making their first ever outing in the Ghanaian top-flight.

Saka, 29, has not played competitive football since June 2017. He picked up an injury during a Ghana Premier League outstanding fixture between Aduana and Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium. That injury kept him out for the rest of the season. He is however back on his feet and raring to go.

His contract with Aduana Stars ended in November and opted to call time on an eight-year stint during which he won two league titles with the Dormaa-based side.

Karela United have so far beefed up their ranks with players with Premier League experience like Michael Sai, Ismail Ganiu, Alhaji Sani, Francis Adjei and Emmanuel Osei Baffour. The Nzema Ayiniase side have also signed Ivorian midfielder Ourega Jean Vital.
