For the second season running, Ghana Premier League side Inter Allies FC are switching home grounds. The club recently announced adopting the Accra Sports Stadium for the 2017/18 season.
Prior to the start of the previous campaign, the ‘Eleven Is To One’ had abandoned the Tema Stadium for the El Wak Sports Stadium, the military facility located at Cantoments. Accra Stadium now makes it three home venues as the club enters its fifth year in the Ghanaian top flight.
Management of the club has offered an explanation for their latest move saying the nation’s wembley offers coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi’s side a better platform to improve the general quality of their game.
Speaking to the club’s official website (www.interalliesfc.com), Vice President Delali Eric Senaye said:
“Our stay in Accra Sports Stadium will improve the quality of our game. You know we enjoy sweet flowing football and Accra’s pitch will be good for us.”
The Accra Sports Stadium is a Government-owned sports facility which is located at Osu, a suburb of the country’s capital (Accra) with a seating capacity of 40,000.
Inter Allies FC gained promotion from the second-tier to the elite division for the 2013/14 season and used the Tema Sports Stadium as home venue for the first three seasons. Last season, 2016/17 Season the club’s home venue was the El Wak Stadium.
The club has assured its concerned “fans and sympathizers that the decision to change the home venue is in the best interest of the team hence the need for everyone to embrace it and keep supporting our great club.”
