Karela United coach Johnson Smith says a top four finish is the target for the Ghana Premier League newbies.
The Nzema Aiyinase-based club will be making their debut outing in the country’s top division when the 2017/18 season kicks off in February.
Karela were the first of three sides to secure promotion from the Division One League last season. They have had quite an impressive pre-season so far – made some top signings which is also reflecting in their performance in the ongoing Ghalca G8 pre-season tournament.
“Our target for the season is to get to the top four and if even we don’t get there and manage to get a good position, we would like it,” head coach Johnson Smith said.

Touching on his team’s progress in the G8, the Karela gaffer added:
“In our first match against Hearts my players were a bit shaky but after that, they are booming with confidence and I hope we can carry that into the season.”
Karela lost 1-0 to Hearts of Oak in their first match but recovered to thrash Ebusua Dwarfs to brighten their chances of advancing to the semis. They face Group A leaders Medeama SC on Sunday.
