Aduana Stars coach Yusif Abubakar pointed to the tactical discipline his players showed in Sunday’s Super Cup victory over Asante Kotoko.
Bright Adjei’s lone goal in the second half was enough for the Premier League champions to defeat the FA Cup winners 1-0 to clinch the trophy at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
“As we all know the match went with the name “Champion of Champions”. You look at the name of the match and realize it is a high tension game and it was,” he told reporters.
“We lost to Asante Kotoko in the G8 tournament and watched them again and realized that they stick to a certain formation.
“We had to strategize and also change certain things that can make us take them on. It was very tactical.”
“The boys did very well. They stuck to the formation and we were able to get it,” added the former Techiman City trainer.
Aduana Stars travel to face Libyan side Al Tahaddy SC in the first leg of the preliminary round of the 2018 Caf Champions League on February 9.
