VIDEO: I did not hesitate when Kotoko came knocking – Akakpo Patron

New Asante Kotoko assistant coach Raphael Patron Akakpo has revealed that he jumped at the chance to rejoin the club when the contact was made a couple of months ago.

The 44-year-old former striker for the Porcupine Warriors signed a two-year deal to confirm his return to the side in a new capacity Tuesday night.

In his first words with the club’s media channel AKTV, Akakpo Patron said:

“I’m grateful to the management for bringing me back to the team. I was very happy when they approached me. As a matter of fact, I did not hesitate and had to accept it.”

He continued: “I think Kotoko is a place that I will continue to learn more and from my head coach. Kotoko is a great team so there are more things to learn from..

“I’m very pleased to come back to Kotoko. Those times when I was playing, I was very dedicated and did my best for the couple of years that I stayed with the team. We achieved a lot.

“Now it is a different team that is coaching and it’s the same dedication, zeal and passion I will bring to the team. With Polack being my boss, I will stick to his philosophy…”

Akakpo, who won the Ghana league twice with Kotoko in the early 90s, also called on the fans to stay behind the team through thick and thin.
