Ghana internationals, Asamoah Gyan and Princella Adubea, were winners at the 2017 People’s Celebrity Awards held Saturday night.
The awards scheme which seeks to recognize personalities and stakeholders in the Ghanaian Creative Arts and Entertainment space came off at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Gyan, the Black Stars captain, was named Favourite Male Sports Personality of the Year. The Kayserispor striker was in the category alongside Andre Ayew, Duke Micah, Isaac Dogboe, Richard Commey, Sadick Adams, Thomas Partey and Winful Cobbinah.
Also, Ghana U-20 female team, the Black Princesses sensation Princella Adubea, emerged as the Favourite Female Sports Personality of the Year,
The Ampem Darkoa Ladies forward beat off competition from the likes of Alberta Ampomah, Adu Agyemang Kate, Belinda Anane, Mercy Tagoe, Nadia Eke, Nafisatu Umaru and Sandra Owusu to the award.
Meanwhile, music icon Shatta Wale won the ultimate People’s Celebrity of the Year Award.
The People’s Celebrity Awards, powered by Spyder Lee Entertainment, is entirely based on public voting.
