“Enyimba were not serious,” Saka speaks after botched move

Defender Godfred Saka says Nigerian giants Enyimba FC showed they were not serious about signing him after a week’s trials.

The out-of-contract Aduana Stars captain’s proposed move to the Nigeria Professional Football League has collapsed after a one week stint with the side.

Despite impressing in the ongoing 2017 Ahlan Cup which the side failed to advance to the knockout stage, officials of the People’s Elephants proposed to keep him for a further observation for two weeks.

Enyimba, it is understood, wanted to be sure of Saka’s fitness especially as he only returned from an injury which knocked him out between June and November.

But the 29-year-old rejected the request.

“I will not be signing for Enyimba because I don’t think the club is serious about the deal,” Saka told Graphic Sports.

“They told my agent that they want to keep me for the next two weeks to check my fitness,” he added.

Godfred Saka won the Ghana Premier League twice with Aduana Stars since joining them in 2009.
