Coach C.K Akonnor has agreed a two-year employment contract with AshantiGold S.C after guiding them to survive Premier League relegation last season.
Footy-Ghana.com revealed on December 7 that the former Hearts of Oak trainer was willing to extend his stay in Obuasi on condition that club C.E.O Cujdoe Fianoo, with whom Akonnor has build a strong relationship, remains at post.
According to information gathered by Footy-Ghana, the agreement is however subject to the approval of the board of directors of the club.
Meanwhile, looking at the great job the former Black Stars captain did last season with the Miners, nothing shows Akonnor will not be confirmed as the coach to lead them next season.
On pre-season, it is understood Akonnor has proposed December 26 as the date to get preparations ahead of the new season underway. He has also asked the management to keep all but Aaron Amoah and Nuhu Issahaq of the nine on-loan players he worked with last season.
AshantiGold have battled relegation for majority of the last two seasons and one of the biggest tasks of C.K Akonnor will be focused on is changing that bad trend starting from next year.
