Wa All Stars came from behind to defeat Hearts of Oak 2-1 as the Ghana Premier League resumed with matchday 27 on Wednesday.
After a barren opening 45 minutes at the Malik Jabir Park, midfielder Samudeen Ibrahim drew first blood just six minutes after the break.
But the lead was shortlived in the 58th minute as a poor defensive judgement saw Hearts centre-back Robin Gnagne put the ball at the back of his own net.
Wa All Stars went ahead to take the lead in the 75th minute afer defender Inusah Musah was penalized by referee Yaw Ametepe for a handball in the Hearts penalty area.
David Abagna then stepped up and expertly hit the ball past Ben Mensah who manned the post for the Phobians. 2-1.
Hearts of Oak ended the game a man short as skipper Thomas Abbey got marched off with a straight red card after a engaging in a verbal altercation with referee Ametepe.
The defeat means Hearts of Oak’s title chances becoome much slender after league leaders Aduana Stars managed to extend their lead by beating second-placed WAFA SC 1-0 in Dormaa.
Aduana remain top with 51 points; followed by WAFA on 47 while the Phobians remain third with 44 points.
