Fifa has declined to open disciplinary proceedings against South Africa referee Daniel Bennett over his poor performance in last weekend’s clash between Uganda and Ghana.
The Cranes of Uganda hosted the Black Stars to a 0-0 draw in a penultimate World Cup Qualifying match at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
Bennett denied Ghana a goal in the dying embers of the game which series of replay showed should have been allowed to stand. The decision did put Ghana’s chances of qualifying for a fourth successive World Cup in serious jeopardy.
The Ghana FA, feeling cheated, lodged an official protest against the referee

But the world football governing body, as quoted by the Associated Press, says “no proceedings will be opened around the World Cup qualifier match Uganda vs Ghana.”
The request was line with a precedent of ordering a replay between South Africa and Senegal following a similar poor display by Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey in the World Cup qualifiers.
