Ampem Darkoa Ladies successfully retained the National Women’s League (NWL) title by beating Lady Strikers 1-0 on Saturday.
Both Ampem Darkoa and Lady Strikers made the play-off finals after emerging tops in their respective Northern and Southern Zones of the 2017 NWL.
The two clubs garnered the same points, 31, to set up their first ever clash held at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
And it was Princella Adubea’s goal which separated both sides.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies thus become the Women’s League champions for the second successive season. They won their maiden title by defeating serial winners Hasaacas Ladies 1-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium last year.
This year’s women’s football season closes on October 21 when Police Ladies clash with Prisons Ladies in the grand finale of the Sandford FA Cup. The game is scheduled for the Cape Coast Stadium October 21.
