Kennedy Ashia joins Sidama Bunna in Ethiopia

Ex-Ghana youth international, Kennedy Ashia, has joined Ethiopian top-flight side Sidama Bunna.

The midfielder arrives in Ethiopia in a free agent deal, having completed his one-year contract signed with Lebanese side AC Tripoli in August 2016.

He was announced by the ‘Coffee’ club who play at the Yirgalem Stadium on Thursday.

Kennedy Ashia, after his exploits with the Black Satellites at the 2013 Fifa World Cup, was touted to be the next big thing but has struggled to get his career going.

Chased by the top clubs in Ghana, the 22-year-old came close to signing for AshantiGold in 2015 but snubbed them for a big money move to Sudanese side Al Hilal.

Ashia’s stay was however short-lived as his contract was terminated after a few months.

He returned to Liberty Professionals midway last season but played only a handful games before the Lebanese offer came calling.

Footy-Ghana.com understands that Kennedy Ashia signed a season-long deal for Sidama Bunna with two other Ghanaian players whose identities are yet to be revealed.

Sidama Bunna finished fourth in the Ethiopian Premier League last season.
