Morocco booked their place at the 2018 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) after securing a 4-2 aggregate win over Egypt Friday evening.
After holding the Pharaohs 1-1 in Alexandria last weekend, the Atlas Lions made good use of home advantage by beating their counterparts 3-1 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The first half ended goalless before Jawad El Yamiq and Abderrahim Maqran scored in quick succession in the second stanza.
Badr Belhrouz extended the lead to 3-0 with a penalty before Hamza El-Samoumi put the ball into the back of his own net in the for Egypt’s consolation goal five minutes from time.
The result means Egypt have, again, failed to qualify for the CHAN tournament since its inception in 2009.
The 2018 CHAN will be hosted by Kenya.
