Young Ghana striker Abu Danladi inspired Minnesota United to end their season-long road winless streak with a 2-1 victory over David Accam’s Chicago Fire in the MLS Saturday night.
The 21-year-old struck a first-half brace to ensure the Loons beat the Fire in front of an announced 18,048 fans at Toyota Park.
Danladi struck first in the 36th minute, tapping in an Ethan Finlay cross after the ball deflected off a sliding Johan Kappelhof.
The Takoradi-born forward struck again nine minutes later, sliding in to latch onto Jerome Thiesson cross at the edge of the six-yard box.
Bastian Schweinsteiger tried to take his team on his back in the second half and played a terrific through ball to David Accam, who finished inside the far netting to cut the Fire within a goal in the 77th minute.
While the Loons celebrated their first road win of the season, the Fire dropped their fourth straight loss.
David Accam’s latest goal increases his MLS tally to 14 goals.
