Wakaso completes Panathinaikos switch, signs three years

Ghana international Mubarak Wakaso has completed his much-publicized move to Greek giants Panathinaikos.

The midfielder arrived in Athens Friday night before undergoing a successful medical in the early hours of Saturday.

With a transfer agreement with his Russian club Rubin Kazan sealed, Panathinaikos concluded their part with the energetic player and committed him to a three-year deal, ending summer 2019.

The 25-year-old is hoping to cop consistent playing time with the Greek giants after a torrid experience in Russia.

Despite his influence in the Ghana national team, Wakaso’s club record leave much to be desired especially since joining Rubin Kazan in 2013. He featured 16 times for the side and had to be sent out on loan at Celtic and Las Palmas in Spain just last season.

Wakaso’s permanent switch to Panathinaikos comes at a time when compatriot Michael Essien is leaving the club.
