Kim Grant: Indiscipline standing in Luqman’s way

Technical director of Ebusua Dwarfs, Kim Grant, has attributed Bright Luqman’s earlier lack of game time in the Ghana Premier League to indiscipline on the part of the payer.

The top scorer of last season’s GN Bank Division One League has so far failed to repeat his heroics which guided the Cape Coast-based club back to the topflight.

Luqman, however, showed glimpses of his scoring prowess with a brace in his side’s 4-1 annihilation of Asante Kotoko in the topflight on Wednesday, taking his season tally to three.

“Basically, what I brought to the team is that if you train hard, if you prepare properly, you will get into the team and remain in the team and that includes Bright Luqman,” Grant told Kapital Sports.

“I wasn’t happy with his attitude, I wasn’t happy with his training and anyone who doesn’t perform in training shows me they don’t want to put on the Dwarfs shirt and they won’t get in my team.

“Until now that was the situation with Bright Luqman, I didn’t select him because he wasn’t in the right frame of mind, his attitude wasn’t right and obviously they are few players who have been suspended with the same situation.

“I only want players who wants to play football and if they don’t work hard enough for me, they will never ever play for me and that’s the fact because I want players who are committed and those who are willing to understand the philosophy of my message.”

“Basically, that goes for the reserve players and players in the first team. If you don’t perform, you will not get selected.

“In the last few weeks, his attitude changed and his discipline changed and I decided after the defeat to Berekum Chelsea to unleash him because he understood that he had to work hard to join the team”.

“For me he did everything correct and the most important thing is can he maintain it and stay in the team? If he doesn’t do it, he will go back on the bench.”

Luqman has made 12 appearances this season, involving four starts.
