The Ghana Under-20 male team, Black Satellites depart Accra Thursday afternoon to begin their quest for a ticket to the 2017 Nations Cup against Ethiopia this weekend.
The Black Satellites were placed on standby to begin the qualifying campaign from the second round.
The Ethiopians who participated in the first round of the qualifiers defeated Somalia 4-1 over two legs in April.
Coach Mas-ud Dramani has named an 18-man squad for the Addis Ababa trip:
Goalkeepers: Kwame Baah, Benjamin Asiedu
Defenders: Enock Adu, Kingsley Fobih, Geoffrey Acheampong, Issahaku Konda, Daniel Amoah, Nicholas Opoku, Moses Sarpong
Midfielders: Michael Otu, Isaac Twum, Emmanuel Addoquaye Lomotey, Mohammed Amando, Joseph Paintsil
Attackers: Dauda Mohammed, Jonah Osabutey, Charles Boateng and Evans Mensah
The rest of the Ghana contingent include head coach Mas-Ud Dramani, Yaw Preko (assistant coach), Prince Pambo (Team doctor), Dr. Quaye (Physiotherapist), George Quansah (Team Manager) and Goalkeepers’ trainer Najawu.
Ghana will host the second leg on the weekend of June 10-12, 2016. The team to advance will face either Tunisia or Senegal in the third round, the final qualification phase later in July. At the end, seven teams will join hosts Zambia for the Championship set for February 26-March 12, 2017.
