REVEALED: Edubiase net a paltry GHs 120 from Inter Allies clash

It seems the sorry state of Bekwai-based club New Edubiase United FC with regard to their finances will not be ending any time soon as the club has revealed making a humiliating amount of GHS 120.00 (about $30) from their match day four game with Inter Allies.

The club, prior to the season, complained lack of finances had hindered a smooth pre-season adding the delay of the 2015/16 league season was a blessing in disguise to them.

“We are very happy, I won’t lie to you we are very happy that the league hasn’t started because we are facing some challenges and every misfortune is a blessing in disguise; one man’s downfall is another man’s success,” team manger Edwin Armah had mentioned.

Chief Executive Officer of the club, Abdul Salam Yakubu after a game into the season also threatened to withdraw from the league if there wasn’t any headline sponsor after match day three saying

“For us, we will start the league but if after three matches no sponsor comes on board to rescue us, I will advise myself and my club,” he said last month.

But four games into the season and the issue of financial challenges still lingers on for the “yenko koaa” lads as their gate proceeds is less than GHS 200.

“Yesterday [Sunday] for instance, we played at home Obuasi and after having deducted everything from gate proceeds, we only got 1.2m that is GHS 120.00 and that cannot even cater for our water during the week,” Team manager Edwin Armah disclosed to Afia Acheampong on Kapital Sports.

“When we go to training, we don’t even buy bottled water but buy the sachet water and that costs us GHS 20.00 a day, multiply that by a week so when we are talking about finances sometimes people might not understand but you need to make mention of it.”

Edwin Armah’s lamentation is coming at a time when attendance at most league centres have significantly improved. The team manger believes the situation is as a result of their current home venue (Len Clay Stadium) which is away from their original Bekwai venue.

The club has 4 points from 4 games played so far and will travel to face Wa All Stars at the Wa Park on Match day 5 of the Ghana Premier League.
