Long-serving Aduana Stars assistant coach, Kwabena Ameyaw has been asked to step aside.
The new development comes in the wake of the resignation of head coach Nurudeen Ahmed from the club on Monday.
Ahmed resigned from the club over internal wrangling and disunity perceived to be the source of the club’s misfortunes on-field.
The star-studded side tipped to be a force to reckon with in the title challenge, have lost both games in the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League season – a 2-0 opening day defeat at Inter Allies and Sunday’s 1-0 home loss at the hands of Wa All Stars.
Sources close to the club say there’s a growing rift between new stars who were signed by the club prior to the start of the new season and Ameyaw, a CAF License B certificate holder has been fingered as part of a ‘gang’ within the team who undermined the efforts of coach Ahmed.
Coach Ameyaw was in charge of the team last season and was joined by Ahmed Nurudeen in the capacity of a technical director mid-way into the season. He was however reassigned to the assistant coach role after the season – a decision sources say did not really go down well with some influential players of the Fire club.
The Management of Aduana, after Monday’s crunch meeting, has asked Kwasi Ankamah and the club’s goalkeepers’ trainer to take interim charge of the club as it works on finding a new head coach for the club.
Former Asante Kotoko coach Mas-Ud Dramani who was recently appointed manager of the Ghana Under-20 national team has been linked to the Aduana job.
